A day or two before you are ready to harvest your garden peppers, flood the area of your garden where the peppers are planted. Not just a good ground soaking watering, but literally flood it till water is pooled on top of the soil around the pepper plants.
Flooding the pepper plants stresses the pepper plant’s roots. The pepper plant’s roots send a signal to turn up the heat in the still growing peppers. Those mild peppers you’ve been growing will now be super hot peppers.
