Sun Loving Plants For Your Garden
Gardens and landscape areas that are in the direct sunlight always means the soil will be dry and difficult to get plants and flowers to grow, unless special care is taken with them. You will have to chose drought tolerant, sun loving plants or the plants will not survive the scorching rays of the sun. The soil will need to be amended with compost or well rotted cow manure, and you will need to add a thick layer of mulch to the soil to retain moisture and protect the soil from sun scorch.
Rose of Sharon and crepe myrtles thrive in direct sun and both flowering shrubs are drought tolerant. Smaller flowers and plants that are sun loving include the Shasta daisy, lantana and iris.
Crownvetch is a blooming ground cover that is drought tolerant, thrives in full sun and grows in almost any soil.
There are many other sun loving plants for your garden that will thrive under the scorching sun and provide you a colorful landscape all summer long.
