Acclimate Garden Plants Before Planting Them
Garden plants are started and grown in a greenhouse environment. The garden plants are used to a constant temperature and a constant water supply, not exactly the way things will be once they’re planted in garden soil.
You need to acclimate your garden plants before planting them to reduce the plant’s stress of a sudden and dramatic environment change.
When you bring your garden plants home from the nursery, leave them in the containers you purchased them in and place them outside in a semi-sheltered area. The garden plants need a few days to become adjusted to direct sunlight, overnight temperature changes, etc., before being planted into garden soil.
Acclimating, or hardening off your garden plants will make them sturdier and much more likely to grow successfully after being planted in garden soil.
